Claire Williment is the Chief of Staff in NHS Blood and Transplant, where she helps to ensure the smooth running of the organisation’s life-saving services. She was also appointed as the Lead Secretariat for work on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, to deliver improvements to the resilience of blood, organ and tissue services and support innovation.

Prior to her current role, she was the Accountable Executive for Opt Out Legislation and Organ Utilisation programmes, leading the development and delivery of plans across the UK to implement changes arising from the change in donation consent legislation and delivering a portfolio of activities which have led to increasing organ utilisation. Claire has also held roles in the Department of Health, including working in Health Ministers’ Private Offices and Senior Policy Lead with organ donation, respiratory disease and pathology services within her portfolio.
