Introduction: Inequalities in organ donation and transplantation exist in the UK. Systemic approaches are required to ensure that all dimensions of organ donation and transplantation are addressed to ensure there is diversity and inclusion. The UK has developed the Meeting the Need 2030 strategy to progress this important agenda.
Methods: The UK Meeting the Need 2030 strategy has 6 pillars to their diversity and inclusion approach –
People of all backgrounds and circumstances will have timely access to the organ they need
Action Plans and Partnerships
Promotion organ donation
Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace
Listing and outcomes
Improving the collection analysis and publication of data
Results: Significant progress has been made -
People of all backgrounds and circumstances will have timely access to the organ they need
ODR registrations from ethnic minority 7.1 to 11.1%
Transplants in people from ethnic minority groups 1,129 (22/23) to 1,232 (23/24)

Findings: Religion & Culture main barrier. The legislation made no difference when approaching. Faith leader and wider families can sometimes be barriers.

Ensuring SNODs are supported with the right resources to approach
