Pre-Congress Workshop
Taking Asian Donation to the next level

|
Room: Room 157 (1F)
Track: N/A

Description

Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent, with a population of approximately 4.78 billion as of 2023. It comprises 48 sovereign countries, each with its own unique tapestry of cultures and religions. Over the last decades, there has been significant progress in the development of deceased organ donation programs in numerous Asian countries. In 2023, Asia witnessed a remarkable milestone, with the number of deceased organ donors reaching 10,000—a 154% increase from the year 2014. Despite the varying national contexts and the uneven pace at which organ donation programs are advancing across Asia, the challenges that arise—and the solutions they generate—are invaluable lessons that can be shared among neighboring countries. Organized by the International Society for Organ Donation Professional (ISODP), this workshop brings together delegates from across Asia, including public health leaders, policymakers, coordinators, intensivists, and transplant surgeons to shape the future of Asian donation.
