Jordy Hermiston, MSW, RSW is the Manager of the Patient and Family Experience program at BC Transplant, where he leads system-wide initiatives to enhance psychosocial support for organ donor families and transplant recipients. He holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia and brings over a decade of clinical experience in palliative care, critical care, and organ donation.
Since joining BC Transplant in 2019, Jordy has played a key role in developing and facilitating the province’s direct contact program, which supports meaningful connections between donor families and transplant recipients. He was also a co-investigator on a research project exploring the ethical considerations of expanding direct contact to pediatric recipients — a project grounded in listening deeply to children, youth, and families about their needs, hopes, and concerns.
Jordy’s work is guided by values of compassion, storytelling, and ethical care. Whether supporting families through their grief or honouring donors at annual ceremonies, he is committed to helping people feel seen, supported, and connected in the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
