Donation and Transplantation Institute
Dr. Chloë Ballesté Delpierre is the Medical Director of the DTI Foundation (Donation and Transplantation Institute) and Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, with over 20 years of experience in the field of organ donation and transplantation. She has led international cooperation, education, and research initiatives in more than 80 countries, and is responsible for the development, implementation, financial management, quality control, dissemination, and sustainability actions of DTI Foundation projects worldwide. Since 2012, she has been intensively involved in the development of organ donation for transplantation in China, where she has trained over 3,500 professionals in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
At the University of Barcelona, Dr. Ballesté coordinates the International Master’s degree in donation and transplantation of organs, tissues, and cells, as well as other graduate and postgraduate programs, and has been a lecturer and scientific researcher at the Faculty of Medicine since 2011. Involved in Hospital Clinic of Barcelona's organ donation management activities since 2006 as a clinician and researcher, she has coordinated multiple European and international research projects, including those on living donation (EULID 2006–09, ELIPSY 2009–11, FISS 2011–13), training (EMPODaT 2013–16, KeTLOD 2016–18, ODISSEA 2018–20, TEODOR 2020–23), and the TTS–ISN Sister Programs in the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
She was elected to the Council of the European Society of Organ Transplantation (ESOT) in 2021, served as a member of the scientific committee for the ESOT Congress in Athens 2023, and is Co-Chair of the ESOT Congress 2027.
